Our full day Kindergarten program offers small class sizes and two full time teachers in each room. It is a very hands-on program that fosters social and emotional growth, a love of learning, and a strong sense of Jewish identity.
“My Kindergarten Day”
I play!
I rush into my classroom! My backpack, coat, and lunch go into my locker. My teachers greet me with a smile and my friends are ready to play.
Outside to Play!
Recess time! I go outside (if it’s not raining) and play on a playground that has been made just for me! I see my friends from the other kindergarten class, we run, and play, and climb a bunch, and then we say….See you at lunch!
I learn!
I find my spot on the carpet to start morning meeting. I sing as I learn the calendar, the weather, and talk about our fun day ahead.
I learn Hebrew!
I’ve only been in school for six weeks, and I can sing the morning prayers with my teacher! I love the melodies and I know what we are saying as we pray. “Modeh ani – I am thankful for the blessings of a new day!” In Hebrew class we play and sing. They tell me I’ll learn Hebrew having fun this way! And do you know what? I’m learning more Hebrew every day! Ima and Aba and tov and shalom…I can speak Hebrew with anyone!
Judaic Time!
There’s so much to know and it’s fun to find out. Whether it’s Israel or Torah or making a holiday treat, we hear stories, dress up, sing songs– it is so neat! And when it’s Friday, we always have Kabbalat Shabbat. So sweet!
Physical Education!
I am strong! I am long! I can run, jump, and throw. Here I learn to run and play, sports and games, I learn the way. I learn to push a little harder – this helps me go that much farther. Most of all, I learn what’s fair– taking turns, cheering another, doing our best for ourselves and each other!
Computer!
The world at my fingertips, that’s what they say...and how I love to explore this way! Learning is fun, I’m fast and I’m good. This certainly expands my neighborhood. I can create pictures, sounds, and a book!
Music!
My music teacher knows that the music in me flows. We jump, we move, we sing, we groove! Hebrew and English, fast and slow, dancing for rhythm and dancing for show! Instruments make quite the noise; way much more fun than toys!
Library!
My first love, my true love, my always love, BOOKS! Here I swing through the jungle, take off in a spacecraft, and fly through the stars. My librarian helps me find the book that’s just right for me, and my mom or dad help me remember to bring it back to school– in time to choose another that’s...well...just right for me!
Art!
I love to create! How does my teacher know that? She gives me “stuff” and a little while later it’s art! We color, we paste, we draw, we build, we mold, we sketch, we create!
