Community Day School in Squirrel Hill is an independent, co-ed Jewish day school for students in Early Childhood through Grade 8. How can you contribute?
The successful candidate will teach various middle school math classes, including geometry, and teach students in grades 6-8 and possibly provide math support to students in grades 4-5. The individual must have the capacity and desire to differentiate instruction for all students, including those needing advanced instruction. We seek a team player who will work collaboratively to provide a joyful, innovative education to our students.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Teach in person, according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
- Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual, audio, and technological means to facilitate learning.
- Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning.
- Assign, correct, and mark work carried out by students.
- Assess and record students’ development, progress and behavior and provide grades and feedback.
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings.
- Perform other duties, as needed.
What are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Pennsylvania teacher’s license and at least two years of teaching experience. Math certification.
- Masters Degree is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices.
- Capacity and desire to differentiate instruction for all students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use a computer, including Google Mail, Google Apps (GSuite), Zoom, and other remote teaching applications.
