What do you do when the pizza is late and the kids are hungry and there are thousands of dollars to be raised in two hours time?
Pick up the phones and start dialing!
That was the scene on Tuesday evening when more than 30 CDS Middle Schoolers arrived with phones in hand ready to dial for dollars on behalf of Community Day School. They were eager to get started and didn’t even want to wait for dinner. “Let’s make some calls!”
By the end of the evening, the pizza (and veggies) had arrived and been consumed, thousands of dollars had been raised, and compliments started pouring in from people who had graciously picked up when called.
“That kid was so nice and professional.”
“Your student was very well informed and well trained... you must be doing something right over there!"
When the night drew to an end and our $50K goal was within reach, our students did not want to leave and they asked, “When are we doing this again?” and “Can we stay longer?”
We could not have achieved our success without the genuine enthusiasm of our students, the expert training offered by Jenny Jones, our Director of Institutional Advancement and Donor Relations, and the participation of board members, staff, and parents who came to pitch in, help with the paperwork, write thank you notes, and cheer every time one of our students had a winning call.
We are filled with gratitude to all of you who gave online all day and through the evening in response to our inspiring videos, emails, and social media posts (and it’s not too late to give here!).
If you ask me, what fired up those students on the phones on Tuesday night are the teachers who inspire them every day at CDS. That is why we wanted to share with our community sneak peeks into the minds and hearts of CDS teachers.
Here are a few short visits with just a few of our very talented educators. Enjoy getting to know why they love teaching at CDS, and you’ll find out why our students love their school.
Thank you again, and Shabbat Shalom!
