Last Thursday afternoon, around 4:45 p.m. the buzzer sounded to end the 4th Quarter of the Boys Varsity game against Shady Side Academy. That sound also signaled the end of another CDS basketball season that began in early November. Since then there have been buzzer beaters, bruised arms, backdoor cuts, beautiful jump shots, bandaged ankles, and bumpy bus rides. What's the sum of all this alliteration? Another memorable and successful basketball season for the student athletes of CDS!
As time ran down in the 8th Grade game against Shady Side, the boys put the finishing touches on another successful season. Last week, the 8th Grade girls laced up their sneakers one last time as they took on Sewickley Academy in a closely contested battle on the hardwood. While the 8th graders look back on three years of basketball memories, the members of the JV teams look to the future. The 6th and 7th graders (as well as the 5th Grade “Step Up” kids) have continued to build their skills and increase their game time experience, all of which will come in handy as they become the leaders of next year’s teams.
A huge thank you to Coach Amy, Coach Howard, Coach Thyberg, Coach Joe, the parent carpool drivers, the scoreboard operators (thanks Mr. St. Clair!), scorebook keepers (thanks Sam!), parent volunteers, fans, and everyone else who helped contribute to the success of our basketball season.
Tomorrow, wear blue and gold and your favorite CDS apparel for the 8th Grade vs. Faculty Game. The game tips off at 1:25 p.m. Families are invited to join us in the Ulam Sport to see who will earn the bragging rights of the school at one of the biggest and best events of our year. The Little Lions Cheer Squad and Lev the Lion will be there to amp up the level of school spirit (please RSVP here).
See you at the Big Game!
