Little Lions Program
The Little Lions program is a wonderful opportunity for CDS students in Grades 3-5 to learn the basic rules and develop skills in various sports.
In this fun, non-competitive environment, students gain the confidence and love of the game necessary to excel in Middle School as a part of our competitive teams. The fundamentals learned through the Little Lions program are invaluable and help with the development of all skill levels.
Students participate in seasonal sports such as: Soccer, Archery, Cross Country, Track, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey. We also have a Little Lions Cheer Team that performs at our Faculty vs. 8th Grade Student Basketball Game, as well as other school spirit events.
Community Day School is also a participant in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), allowing Little Lions students to experience the sport of archery. Archery is also available in gym classes, through our IGNITE experiential learning program, and in Middle School Exploratory classes.
The mentally and physically challenging sport of archery helps to develop character and self-reliance. It also improves student motivation, attention, behavior, attendance, and listening and observation skills. In addition, archery has deep and ancient Jewish connections that our students explore.
In addition, each spring, CDS is a site for the Girls on the Run program, which inspires girls in Grades 3 to 5 to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.
