CDS Digital Time Capsule
Our golden anniversary is an opportunity to strengthen our connections with what matters most to our school community—you!
Our 50-year history is made up of the countless experiences, moments, and relationships that tell our CDS story.
That's why Community Day School is inviting you to help us build a digital time capsule to collect fondest memories, precious photos and videos, and personal anecdotes from students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members.
Share your favorite school memories and memorabilia with the CDS family and browse these stories and images that are forever a part of the fabric of our school!
This is a special milestone in the history of CDS, as we embark on a year-long celebration of our 50th anniversary.
The journey began in 1972, when a group of parents first organized Community Day School as a non-denominational Jewish day school, located in the old Hebrew Institute building at the corner of Forbes and Denniston avenues in Squirrel Hill. We remain in awe of the vision, dedication, and hard work of these leaders, who unknowingly shaped the landscape of Pittsburgh's Jewish community for generations to come.
Today, CDS is a thriving academic institution with nearly 300 students in Early Childhood through Grade 8. Although our expanded campus is now just a mile away from where we started, we have traveled far from our humble origins five decades ago. Every bold step of the way, we've always remained true to the hopes and dreams of our founders to build a school rooted in Jewish values and committed to academic excellence and meeting the individual needs of the children and families we serve.
We have been trusted with a great treasure, legacy, and responsibility. And we are deeply grateful and proud to have our amazing families, devoted community, and exceptional staff to help us chart the course of our next 50 years together.
