Athletics

Athletics are a core part of life at Community Day School and are free for all students. Our teams build skills, confidence, fitness, and teamwork while inspiring sportsmanship and a lifelong love of the game.

Our Spring sports schedule is about to begin! Read below for all of the incredible options this season and register now!

CDS Spring Sport Options

  • Boys' Intramural Flag Football (Grades 5–8) | Coach Margo Hinton
    • Students develop football fundamentals, including passing, catching, and strategic play in a fun, non-contact environment that emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Girls' Volleyball Skill Development (Grades 4–7) | Coach Rickie Fink
    • Players learn and practice essential volleyball techniques such as serving, setting, and bumping while building confidence and coordination in a supportive, skill-focused atmosphere.
  • Track (Grades 3–8) | Coach Jason Dennison
    • Athletes explore running events while challenging themselves to improve their personal performance through training, goal-setting, and the pursuit of personal bests in a supportive team environment.  
  • Ultimate Frisbee (Grades 5–8) | Coach Chaim Steinberg
    • This fast-paced sport combines athleticism and strategy as students learn throwing techniques, field awareness, and the unique spirit of self-officiated play that defines ultimate frisbee.

CDS has a "no cut" policy, which means that any student who fully participates may join the team. Every effort is made to give all athletes game experience, with a focus on teamwork and dedication. 

Teams practice and compete on our beautiful multi-purpose athletic field, in our gymnasium, or on the trails of our nearby city parks.

No matter which sports CDS students pursue, they benefit from heightened personal integrity, good sportsmanship, self-discipline, perseverance, self-confidence, and an appreciation for competition.
